A Little Weird

reality bizarres the standard

We are all “psychic” — there is nothing SUPER-natural about it. It’s just natural. Now we might feel a little less special when we think of it that way, but we have to put our ego aside in favor of discovering truth :-P.  Maybe some of you are thinking, “Yeah, that’s great Sean, maybe you are psychic (or crazy), but I’ve never done anything psychic! So it’s easy for you to say.” Ok fair enough. Let’s take Out of Body Experiences, for example.

The basic description of an Out of Body Experience (OBE) is that you lay down, do some meditation or something, and then you find consciousness floating outside your body. Then you can fly around and do fun things.

Sometimes we become so discouraged by our practice that we feel we’ll never accomplish our goal. Hey, cheer up! :-) While nothing has been “proven” about OBEs, a lot of authors in the OBE field, along with myself, believe that everyone has OBEs every night. Now don’t just glance over that idea — if you’re training for OBEs, then really digest it.

Imagine that you actually are leaving your body, every night. Every night, since you were born, you’ve been leaving your body. That’s a lot of experience. That’s a lot of OBEs. Imagine that just last night you left your body. And the night before. And tonight. Get it out of your head that you need to achieve an OBE. You’ve already achieved them!

So what do you need to achieve? Conscious awareness. Right now you aren’t consciously aware of leaving your body. You leave your body every night, but you are zonked out when it’s happening.

The question isn’t, “How do I have an OBE?” It’s not a question of techniques, or step by step procedures. The question you need to pose yourself is: “How do I become aware of this natural process?” Now, we can have some tips that you can try. But these tips are not full-proof step by step techniques. They are just tips (that I’ll address in future postings).

If you’re trying to have an OBE (or even if you aren’t, but are just curious about it), start by really digesting the idea that you have an OBE every night. Maybe you don’t believe it - that’s fine - but just give the idea a try in your head. It can change your focus.

Once again, you bring us a great perspective of these things! That tip sounds like something to try!
Now I just have to wait nine more hours to go to sleep…

Hurray, you got this up Sean! It’s great to see something related to psychic abilities and dreams… Thanks for getting it up again!

On that note, the advice you have given is very helpful, and may help me achieve a conscious OBE. Thanks!

Hmm… realizing you do it every night to help you consciously do it… interesting idea. I’m not interested in OBEs right now, but I might be able to use it for lucid dreams.

And, Sean, do you have any idea how long will it be before the forums are online?

Very interesting concept. I’m trying to induce an OBE now for the purposes of browsing the Akashic Records and practicing PK. This should help me get even more motivated. Thanks Peebr- erm, Sean!

ive never had and OBE but my mom did twice the fist time it was going well, but the second time wasnt, when she got it to work the second time she just started wandering around the house and then hes dad was at the door she tried to open it but she couldnt, after that she tried to go back to her body but something floating on her ber didnt let her. she says that there is a chance of ur spirit to be unable to go back or that a wandering spirit can get into it and maybe ull get posesed its just a guess though.

Interesting, but if we all truly do leave our bodies at night, why? Why would we unconsciously be knocked out of our bodies? There has to be a reason. It’s not like our subconscious mind just wants to have a little fun. ;)

as with lucid dreams this is another thing i have been trying and maybe i should just focus more on one every night but anyways that made me think a lot and gave me a whole new perspective on the idea of sleep and OBE’s. I look forward to futher entries to the site.

maybe its a form of release or unwinding. some psychologists believe that you dream because your brain is actually trying to organize all the information you’ve learned throughout the day. maybe it has something to do with that. i don’t know or have a personal opinion, but its just something to think about i guess.

  9. Daemon Says:

Personally I don’t believe that. How do you know its not just a lucid dream after all.

Very interesting, when I try to have an OBE it feels like a magnet pulling on my brain

I’ve seen this idea in a lot of places before. Robert Bruce is a supporter of it. Anyways, it seems reasonable to me, seeing as science is still stumped by most of sleep. We are obviously not controlling our body, and we are most certainly not dreaming the entire time. So where does our consciousness go? OBE’s seem just as likely as anything else to me.

I’ve been practing OBE’s for about a month now. I always feel like I’m almost out, but then I lose focus. When I try, my body starts twitching and I feel tingly all over. Is this the right feeling?

I doubt it that you leave your body every night. After all, just like you said, only the conscious mind leaves the body. The subconscious remains. If someone tries to “steal” your body by possessing it, your subconscious will be like a guard dog. Even if someone does possess your body, then you will be able to gain it back when they fall asleep, if they really do leave their body every night. I’ve come close to having an OBE 2 times (I’ve tried twice :P) and I wonder how it feels to use psi while in OBE state.
